Go to Amsterdam before and after

I read that due to all the Russian crime that has been migrating throughout Europe Amsterdam is in the process of eliminating much of their red light district, as a crime preventive measure,  and replacing the coffee shops and sex windows with museums and high-end shopping.  I would like to make a trip there soon and then a future trip much later on in life so I can see the difference over time.
